Where Aruba Locals Snorkel
The name means "three steps" in Papiamento - three concrete steps are the only entry at this raw, unimproved reef site. No sandy beach, no signage, no facilities. What is here: consistently excellent reef snorkeling, nurse sharks resting in sandy channels, moray eels in crevices, and a reef free of tourist crowds.

Marine Life
Nurse sharks (completely docile) rest in sandy channels at 3-6m. Green moray eels occupy permanent crevices on the reef face. Eagle rays on the outer edge at 6-10m. Multiple nurse sharks commonly visible at once - this is the best nurse shark site accessible from shore in Aruba.
Entry Technique
Check for surge before entering - if water pushes sideways strongly, choose Boca Catalina instead. Put your full kit on above water. Water shoes are non-negotiable on the sharp limestone. Enter between surges, fin immediately, move away from rocks.
Not suitable for beginners, children or nervous swimmers. No lifeguard. Always snorkel with a buddy. If in doubt, go to Baby Beach instead.
Finding It
No signage - GPS 12.5710N, 70.0580W on Route 1A between Malmok and Boca Catalina. A cluster of local cars often marks the spot.
